` Water Needs: Keep soil consistently moist but not waterlogged. Gourds require regular watering throughout their growing season, particularly during flowering and fruit development. Water at the base of the plant to avoid wetting the foliage.
Sunlight Needs: Full sun (6-8 hours of direct sunlight daily). Gourds thrive in bright, sunny locations.
Time to Germinate: 7-14 days.
Seed Soaking: Soak seeds overnight before planting to improve germination rates.
Tray/Pot Recommendations: Start seeds in seed trays or small pots with good drainage. Gourds can also be directly sown into the garden or larger containers. Transplant seedlings outdoors when they are large enough to handle and the weather is warm.
Space Requirements: Space plants 1-2 meters apart. Gourds are vining plants and need ample space to spread out. Provide support or allow them to trail on the ground.
Temperature Requirements: Optimal growing temperatures range from 18-30°C. Gourds prefer warm conditions and should be protected from cold temperatures.
Best Growing Season: Gourds can be grown year-round in tropical climates like Thailand. In cooler regions, they are typically grown from spring to late summer.
Time to Harvest: 90-120 days from planting, depending on the variety. Gourds are usually harvested when they have reached their full size and the skin has hardened. For ornamental use, allow them to mature fully and dry on the vine before harvesting.
